2nd Rush Countdown

I just saw Rush a couple weeks ago at the United Center in Chicago.  It was probably the best show I’ve ever seen.  Even in their 50’s they have more energy than most bands half their age.  The show was three hours plus a 1/2 hour intermission.  They played tons of great stuff.  Here’s their set list:

Digital Man
Ghost Of A Chance
The Main Monkey Business
The Larger Bowl (video intro)
Red Barchetta
The Trees
Between The Wheels

Far Cry (video intro)
Workin’ Them Angels
Armor and Sword
The Way The Wind Blows
Natural Science
Witch Hunt
Malignant Narcissism (drum solo)
The Spirit Of Radio
2112 (overture/the temples of syrinx)
Tom Sawyer (south park intro)

One Little Victory
A Passage To Bangkok

They played 7 songs from their new Snakes and Arrows album, which is a few too many for my taste, though I absolutely love the new album.  Our seats were on the floor, about 30 rows back, dead center.  Above each of the three was a huge screen that showed videos and each musician.  The show included a bit of humor, like the South Park intro for Tom Sawyer.  The band members looked like they were having a great time on stage, and the audience was very involved.

The show was so good that I will see them again in 9 days at Milwaukee Fest.  Sweet.

  1. Rush Rules! Sounds like a great show. My first Rush show was the Signals Tour way back when. They define the phrase “Power Trio” like no other band. I love them!
