Fortune just released the names of the 25 Most Powerful Businesspeople in the world, which include many well known tech people.  It’s a fun list to read.  In fact, there are quite a few surprises on the list.  Here are some highlights:

2. Publisher Rupert Murdoch.  He just acquired MySpace for $580 Million in 2005.  In case you are married or living under a rock, MySpace is the largest social networking site in the world.

3. Chris Leckness, AximSite, MobilitySite.  Just kidding!  #3 is actually the chairman of Goldman Sachs.

4. Google Founders Eric Schmidt, Larry Page and Sergei Brin.  Google started off as a humble search engine for Yahoo!, and is now one of the largest companies in the world.

Other tech people include:

11. Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers

16. HP Chairman Mark Hurd

Conspicuously missing from the list are Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, recently named tech’s most influential person.  Oracle CEO Larry Elison, who once almost bought Apple.
